SA Flexible Income

For investors seeking high income yields with some prospects for capital growth.

OVERVIEW

The strategy is suitable for investors seeking high income yields with some prospects for capital growth and low tolerance for capital loss. The investment investment horizon is 12 months to two years. The benchmark is 110% of Alexander Forbes Short-term Fixed-interest Call Deposit Index (Stefi Call).

STRATEGY

To achieve its goal, the strategy invests in a dynamic mix of listed and unlisted South African fixed interest securities and listed property counters, with some select foreign securities and active currency management to hedge out much of the currency risk. The weighted average duration of the portfolio is typically less than three years. The portfolio is unlikely to invest in equities but is permitted to do so up to 10% of portfolio, with a more likely exposure to listed property counters, well below the maximum 25% level. The portfolio complies with Regulation 28 to the Pension Funds Act.
