Institutional Client Director

Foord Asset Management is an independent, owner-managed investment boutique offering a premium investment management service to long-term investors. We have a multi-decade track record of successful investing across a range of investment strategies, both in South Africa and globally. We are looking for an experienced institutional client director to join our executive team, help us engage our investor base and grow institutional assets under management.

You will be responsible for:

  • Developing and executing a sales strategy to target institutional investors, including retirement funds and asset consultants, multi-managers, medical aid schemes, and other professional investors
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with existing and prospective investors, consultants and intermediaries
  • Presenting Foord’s investment philosophy, process and performance to investors and prospects, both in person and online
  • Preparing and delivering high-quality proposals, reports and presentations that showcase Foord’s pedigree, value proposition and competitive advantage
  • Collaborating with the investment, marketing, and client service teams to ensure a seamless professional investor experience
  • Keeping abreast of market trends, competitor activity and regulatory developments that may affect Foord’s business and its investors.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in institutional sales, business development, or relationship management in the asset management industry
  • A proven track record of generating new business and retaining existing clients in a competitive and challenging environment
  • A relevant degree in finance, economics, business, or a related field — the CFA qualification is an advantage
  • Thorough understanding of the investment landscape, asset classes and portfolio construction
  • Excellent leadership, communication and presentation skills
  • A high level of professionalism, integrity and ethics
  • A self-motivated, proactive, and results-oriented approach
  • A willingness to travel locally and internationally as needed.
